Teaching & Learning Philosophy

Grounded in systems thinking, practical application, and leadership development.

My approach to teaching is built on creating collaborative, inclusive learning environments that mirror the complexity and dynamism of the real world. I believe education should prepare individuals not only to understand systems—but to change them. Whether I’m in the classroom or advising program strategy, I aim to bridge theory with practical execution, helping learners connect ideas to action.

I view education as a catalyst for personal empowerment, community health, and systemic impact. That belief shapes every course I design and every learning experience I facilitate—whether it's graduate instruction, workforce reskilling, or executive leadership development. My goal is to equip learners with tools they can use far beyond the classroom: tools to lead, adapt, and contribute meaningfully in health, education, and policy spaces.

Program Development Case Study: Utah Tech University

As Dean of the College of Health Sciences at Montana State University–Northern, and as a consultant focused on academic strategy, I’ve built programs that align education with real-world workforce needs. One of the most rewarding examples of this work was my leadership in developing the Master of Health Administration (MHA) program at Utah Tech University.

In that role, I led the full design and launch of a graduate program rooted in operational strategy, digital health, and ethical leadership. I curated a 20+ course curriculum that emphasized simulation, informatics, and real-time decision-making. The program was built to meet the demands of an evolving healthcare landscape—connecting students with practical experiences, community partnerships, and credentialing pathways.
